The SSM ezBiz Online Portal is the statutory digital platform mandated by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia). Designed to facilitate the ease of doing business, this official gateway allows Malaysian citizens and residents to fulfill their legal obligations under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956 entirely through a secure, paperless environment.

With ezBiz, business owners can manage the entire lifecycle of their enterpriseβ€”from initial incorporation to final terminationβ€”without the need for physical branch visits.

Eligibility Notice: To maintain the integrity of the national business registry, all users must be Malaysian Citizens or Permanent Residents aged 18 and above. A one-time identity verification is required for all new account holders to ensure secure access to the system.

The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) is the national statutory body regulating corporate affairs and business registrations in Malaysia. Established on 16 April 2002, SSM was formed through the strategic merger of the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and the Registrar of Businesses (ROB) to streamline the Malaysian corporate landscape.

As the leading authority for business registration in Malaysia, SSM oversees the incorporation of companies, registration of businesses, and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs). Beyond registration, SSM serves as the official custodian for corporate data, ensuring transparency and accountability within the business sector. Most applications submitted through the SSM ezBiz portal are processed within one (1) working day (24 hours). You will receive an email notification once your application has been reviewed and approved by the Registrar.

Yes. You can perform a renewal via ezBiz within 12 months after the expiry date. However, please note that a late renewal may incur a compound (fine). If your business has been expired for more than 12 months, it is automatically terminated and cannot be renewed; a new registration will be required.

  • Personal Name: Uses the name exactly as stated on your NRIC (e.g., Ali Bin Abu). The fee is RM30.00 per year.

  • Trade Name: A proposed business name (e.g., Ali Global Catering). This requires prior name approval and the fee is RM60.00 per year.

While the portal is 100% online, first-time users must complete a one-time Identity Verification (IDV). This can often be done digitally through the portal’s e-KYC process (uploading a selfie and IC photo), or by visiting any SSM counter for a one-time thumbprint verification.

Upon successful payment, your Business Profile or Certificate is available for download under the “My Business Portal” section. You have 90 days to download your documents. If the link has expired, you may need to purchase a fresh copy via SSM e-Info or MYDATA-SSM.

No. Under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956, only Malaysian Citizens and Permanent Residents (PR) aged 18 and above are eligible to register a “Business” (Sole Proprietorship or Partnership). Foreigners wishing to start a business in Malaysia must incorporate a Sdn Bhd company.
